You probably didn't know, but I am actually not going to the Academy this semester, or any time after that probably. I've decided to transfer over to DePaul University to start my degree in Animation. I am really super excited about it, actually, even though it may seem like a shock to some peeps. There are many, many reasons to why I have made this decision, but let's just leave it as I needed a change of environment; a change of pace. c:So, I'm basically taking this semester off so that in February I can go see my sister who lives in California. She is going to have a baby in March, so it'll be nice I get to see my little nephew quite soon! :)

Agh, I skipped all of September... Oops. /: Well, a bit of an update is needed.

So. School has indeed started up, and I got lots of homework to do! DX Even now, I'm typing this instead of doing it. :o Anywhoo, so... Yeah. I do like my classes, and I'm happy that they're starting to pick it up and getting somewheres. Though I was sad to find that the first half of the semester is only in black and white in my Illustration class. Oh well. And that I get to use different mediums! I want to try everything so that I can narrow down what I really like. Of course, I know that I like digital, but I want to find a traditional medium as well.

So, yep, that's pretty much it I guess. Not too much to say, really. Riding the train is a bitch though, so hopefully next year I'll have an apartment instead. :U

Wow, I've actually managed to get a few pieces out since the summer's started! Though... I wish I had more to show. /: I guess that's what happens when you get lazy... Which is exactly what I have been!

But what also stinks is that I've been trying and trying and trying to find a job. And I still haven't been able to find one yet. Sigh... It's getting incredibly frustrating. >:c

But on a happier note, I will, at some point in the future, get a pet hedgehog!! I can't wait! They're so adorable! :3

After classes today, I went with a few friends to our favorite favorite favorite thai restaurant for our wonderfully awesome friend Rena's birthday today!! :DDD Her birthday's on Friday, so we decided to celebrate it early because she'll be going back to the burbs for the weekend. c:

College Work Update

Woo, a college work update! It's kinda hard getting these all together, considering that I have to take a picture with my camera of everything. :o

So, today was really fun though! Got to go out to lunch with my whole family today, and we went to the Urban Burger Bar. Boy were those burgers tasty!! But very messy. D: We were going to go to the aquarium, but we ended up not being able to because the aquarium stops admitting peeps at 4:15. We were too late. :c But. We went to MOLLY'S CUPCAKES instead!! OMG I LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVE Molly's Cupcakes! They're so flippin' awesome I could eat them forever and get fat. XD Anyways, the only sad part was that this was the last day I'm going to see my sister for a very long time. She's off to San Diego where she's stationed for three years. She'll be on a ship for 7 months, starting in August. I'm going to miss her very very much. :c My parents and I are definitely going to visit her though, it's California after all! And hopefully she can visit here as well. c:>

So, yeah. Today was a pretty successful day, for the most part. c:

First Digital Self Portrait - WIP

So, I've still been working on digital painting and whatnot, trying new things and such. :) I started a digital self portrait, and I think for once, I'm actually going to finish! I have started numerous ones in the past, but I believe I can now finish it, because I know what I'm doing now! (Sort of.)

I'll be pushing myself to do more of these, so as to get better at digital painting; it's something I've always wanted to be good at, and I think art school really helped too! (Well, it's still helping, and will continue to help more in the future!)

So yeah.

I've had a pretty boring weekend, so I won't bore you by describing it. :D

Exciting news!!

So, I've been practicing painting digitally withOUT lines; at first, I never thought I'd ever be able to pull something off like that, but now... >:3

Using that brush I talked about in my last post, I was able to paint Belle, from Beauty and the Beast. That was always my favorite movie when I was a wee little tot.

So, that's what I've been working on today, because you know what happened in the area I live in? We got a dump of nearly 2 feet of snow, that's what. Brrrr... At least the ground hog will be buried so that he can't see his shadow! That means spring is right around the corner! (Hopefully) Also, this morning was pretty funny, because we couldn't even open the front door! But, we got a friend to plow our driveway and the parents shoveled some of the sidewalk, so we're good to go. Now for the fun part. Below zero temperatures. Yaaaaay. D:

I just wanted to start actually talking about my experiences and such, like a journal or something of the sort.

So, here it goes.

Today, I only had two classes, Life Drawing and Fundamentals. Life drawing was... life drawing, as fun as that can be. I do like using those sanguine pastel things though! And fundamentals, I'm finally learning about color, and hopefully soon (next week!) I'll be learning how to paint! With acrylics anyway. I'm not sure I really want to paint with oils, because they are rather expensive and I don't really like all the prep work and the finishing up work. I much rather like the ease of watercolors or hopefully acrylic paint. :o

Anyways I've also tried out a new way of painting digitally in Photoshop, and I gotta say; that brush is freaking awesome! Holy crap!

She has inspired me to continue practicing digitally, and also to try new things! :) What also helps is that I'm actually learning about color in fundamentals, so I have more of a foundation for painting and such. I really would like to learn how to paint. :(

Er, so yeah, never minding the last post, here's to a real happy new years! :D

And the New Year began.

So, the beginning of a new year has gone and past.

2011.

It's already been an interesting start to the year, with certain happenings going on and what not.

I'm not going to dwell some of upon those, for those are for a different place and time, but I do want to... I guess ramble a little bit here. Feel free to ignore the next portion of text. :/

Life... has a lot of ifs. A lot of things can happen in one day, one hour, one minute, one second. A life can change; for the better, for the worse, or it can even... end. It makes me wonder about it, about my life and how I've been living it. I do love my family (they will always be there for me) and the friends that I've made so far, but at the end of the day, I still feel rather...

Alone.

It's a familiar feeling to me; I've always felt it. I usually try to escape it with my artistic endeavors, such as drawing, crocheting, and the like. I do love it, and those things will always be a part of me, but still. I can't help but ask... Will I always be like this? Alone forever? Part of me believes this, and while I joke that I'll be that weird old cat lady down the street one day, I sometimes feel like that is just the truth, as sad as that may be.

I know that I am still young, and that the world is my oyster, but young people can have thoughts too.

And with the thought of the new years, I would like to do the usual resolutions, such as loose those last 10 lbs, finish my projects I start, ect. However. There is something else I wish to do as well.

My New Year's resolution is to... Be the real me.

Sometimes I feel like the person I present myself as to new people I meet is just... not right. It's not really me. Some may consider me a sweet, innocent nice girl, and while those are nice words to be described as, I feel like that's not quite who I am in a nutshell. I guess maybe sometimes I'm like that, but I feel like with these descriptors comes the word naive. I am not naive, I'm just... inexperienced, in a sense. I do know things, I'm not a stupid person; I have feelings too. It's just, well, not many things happen in my life; at least not to me directly. Things always go on around me, everyone has their own problems, their own lives to tend to. And then there's me. In my own little world, all by myself, no dramas, no issues in sight. Except for the one I always feel in my heart, and that clouds the back of my mind: Loneliness.

Ahem, anyways, I guess I just wanted to er, get my feelings out? While this isn't all of what's going on with me, it's just enough to make me feel a little better, haha.

Well, I hope everyone has their own good New Years!

Anyways, yes, here are more things. The most important is probably the Origami Color Wheel! I spent the most time on it, and it was a project for my portfolio. I did it in my Art Independent Study class. c: I'm actually quite proud of how it turned out, especially the green and yellow ones.

So, in addition to stuff about my portfolio, I'm going to have it entered in a Scholastic contest! I hope I do well! XD It'll be exciting to see what happens. c:

As for the Alice picture, a friend was talking about her Alice in Wonderland project, and it made me want to draw Alice. So I did. c:

How the Day's going!

I wanted to put this in a different post, since... yeah. I don't want to clutter my artwork with too much text.

So, my day was pretty stressful. Scratch that, my entire WEEK has been stressful! It's the week of our school play, and since I'm one of the major crew members, I had a lot of work to do. First we had to get all these flats painted for the backdrops, and then we had to make this brick wall. Painting walls is SO much fun. D:

AND I have the wonderful duty of managing the spot light. DX That thing's really heavy, and I have to be careful it doesn't fall! But, in the end, the show was pretty good, even with all the mistakes! There were some good laughs in there. C:

Dammit, there's some dog outside across the street that keeps barking, and my dad is coughing next door. *sigh*
